OMG dude I just finished playing Gravity Rush and it's like 11 PM but my brain is still buzzing. Remember that description someone gave me? About it being a "constantly descending ball" and an "endless runner"? That is SO wrong. Like, completely, utterly wrong. It's like describing pizza as "bread with toppings" – technically true I guess, but it misses everything that makes it amazing.
Because this game is wild. It's not about a ball, it's about this girl, Kat, and her cat, Dusty, and she can just *change* gravity. Like, the first time I played, I was just walking along a street in this super cool city called Hekseville, and I pressed a button and suddenly I was falling *upwards* towards the sky, then I pressed it again and I was falling sideways onto a wall. It was super disorienting at first, I kinda crashed into a lamp post, but then it clicked. You're not just falling, you're *aiming* where you wanna fall. It’s like, you just point and then you become a human cannonball flying through the air.
Honestly, it makes you feel so powerful. I spent like an hour just flying around the city, just because I could. Like, I'd drop off a tall building, then shift gravity to stick to the underside of a bridge, then launch myself across a huge gap to land perfectly on a tiny balcony. There’s this really satisfying *whoosh* sound when you shift gravity too, it just feels right. I even figured out if you do a super strong gravity kick into those weird black monsters, the Nevi, they just kinda explode into purple dust. So satisfying.
I don't usually like games where you have to fly around a lot, it can be kinda clunky, but this is different. It's so smooth once you get the hang of it. I looked at the clock and it was like, 2 AM last night, I just kept saying "one more mission" and then just ended up exploring. It's not a perfect game, the camera can be a little weird sometimes when you're doing crazy flips, but man, the feeling of freedom is just incredible. It’s like that dream where you can fly, but you're actually doing it. You seriously gotta try it, I told my brother Alex about it too, he's gonna get it next week. It's just... fun. Really, really fun.
